STX logistics
The project is located in Coslada, a municipality east of Madrid. It is placed on a corner plot within the industrial fabric of the area, surrounded by various industrial warehouse buildings. The building is conceived to work as a logistics center for the courier service company STX, and must house a new office area, among other uses.
Programmatically, the volume is divided into two main areas: one for offices and the other one for a warehouse. The office area is located next to the main entrance, with three floors for this use and a surface parking lot to serve the building. The rest of the space is allocated to a warehouse with 10 meters of free height, having a second entrance for the loading and unloading service, with access control and sufficient manoeuvering space for heavy vehicles.
In the rest of the building, a perforated corrugated aluminium sheet envelops the entire volume. Thanks to this, it is possible to unify the appearance of the façade and guarantee a certain degree of solar protection, allowing diffused light to enter the interior of the offices and privatising the work area without impeding views to the outside. At night, the action of the façade is inverted, reflecting on the outside the activity that takes place inside.
The building seeks to convey the character of the company. For this, a simple volume is generated in which the logo and the main colour of STX highlight, adding the corporate design to the image of the building. The access is marked by a setting back and by the use of blue composite panels on the facade.
