Description
The project proposes an office building in Boca Chica, Dominican Republic, shaped by a reading of the place and its warm tropical climate. It seeks an efficient, functional and representative building, able to organise administrative activity, public service and internal work within a quality environment.
The layout follows a clear sequence of uses: the entrance floor brings together reception, service and waiting areas; the upper floors hold work areas, meeting rooms and collaborative spaces; and the roof is conceived as an active floor, with a dining room, events room, children's room, nursing room and shared areas that extend the life of the building.
The project is structured on four criteria —sustainability, inclusion, collaboration and institutional image— and gives the envelope a fundamental role. In a climate of high radiation and humidity, an outer skin of louvres filters the light, reduces direct exposure and adds depth, building a recognisable institutional presence without giving up interior comfort.
Sustainability is addressed holistically —durable materials, passive ventilation and solar protection, water management, flexibility of use— and inclusion is incorporated as a design criterion rather than an add-on: accessibility, work-life balance and care spaces. The result is a building designed to work better, serve better and represent a public or corporate institution with restraint.
