“El Olivar” urbanisation

The urbanisation "El Olivar" is located on the agricultural fabric of Tacna. To carry out the development, the conditions of the place and the uses and customs of its inhabitants were taken into account. This area is characterized by having a subtropical and desert climate, with the particularity of having water from the mountains.

Regarding the design, importance was attached to the link between the land and the orchard by recovering the geometry of the historical agricultural fabric, integrating the design into the place and looking for the best orientation of the lots.

In addition, a hierarchical system of wheeled traffic is created, distinguishing between large avenues, main streets and pedestrian passages. This optimize the vehicular routes of the inhabitants. In addition, the residential sense of the street is fostered for the enjoyment of its residents, also enhanced by the arrangement of trees in this roads.

On the other hand, a network of parks that runs through the entire urban area is generated, promoting its pedestrian route and materializing as an extension of the valley. This net has a sinuous and fluid design that invites movement. Each strip of park is different and have areas for recreation, sports and rest, allowing the practice of different activities and encouraging the use and enjoyment of the public space.
