“Loma Bonita” urbanisation

For this reason, we design the meeting point of the roads with the central park, trying to integrate the limits of the roads until they disappear, in order to there is continuity and the connection with the green areas is improved. In this way, the pedestrian streets become extensions of the park and the houses are enveloped in greenery without losing functionality or accessibility to the vehicular grid and giving priority to the pedestrian.

This project has been a milestone in the development of Lima, as it is the largest urbanisation with residential lots on the outskirts of the city. It is located in an area close to the La Chutana aerodrome, in a valley whose crest is coloured in green during the humid months.

The development is composed of a large avenue running longitudinally along the north side of the valley and a supporting road running along the south. From these main roads, the rest of the secondary roads appear to give access to the different plots and they end in a central green area. In this way, the circulation is ordered and hierarchical, without interrupting the park, so it allows the creation of a large central green area and reduces the traffic in the areas near the park.

The park concentrates many activities designed for all kinds of people and it works as a 2,800-meters green pedestrian way that links the entire valley. This public space is the main element of the urban design and becomes the differential ingredient of the development and the greatest value for its inhabitants.

As regards materiality, the aim is to simplify the proposal by using materials that adapt to the different uses and needs of the project and that enhance the characteristics of the environment, thus highlighting the connection with it and making use of typical vegetation of the zone.
