“Valle Real” urbanisation
Huancayo is located at an altitude of 3250 m above sea level. Its urban structure consists of a road axis running through the agricultural valley of Mantaro on which a succession of transversal roads run. The land - on where the project is located - is in the south of Huancayo and it has great natural beauty due to the imposing rows of eucalyptus trees, that contrast with the green and yellow tones of the grass.
The strategy is to preserve the character of the environment. For this, a large part of the trees have been preserved and the stages and geometry of the condominiums have been adapted to the existing eucalyptus. In addition, water is incorporated as another element to be integrated into the development of the design. The result is an organic and functional urban fabric where the inhabitant feels the urbanisation as an improvement of his territory, which improves its natural values.
Starting from a functional system, the main value of urban planning is the public space, which can be summarized in a road network and green areas. In this case, the roads are arranged in order to do not interrupt the green areas to give greater continuity to the park. The streets are organically connected to the parks, generating a connection with the public space. In this way, it is possible to walk through the urbanisation following green routes with a variety of activities for all ages. This improves the quality of the public space and foster the participation of the inhabitant in this space.
